lol. luckily they're fairly regular so we just caught another one! </p> <p>budapest was fairly nice.. a bit of a dirty city though. you should've seen the walk to where we staying... argh!!! lol. luckily the hostel was nice. kind of in some womans house but she was really friendly. only there a couple of days.. buda is much nicer than pest (where we were staying), but didnt rate it much as a city really!</p> <p>now in bucharest... arrived by sleeper this morning.. a really nice one actually which was good! got a better nights sleep than on the lost one! omg how scary was bucharest when we arrived!!! there's like wierd men with messed up eyes like bleeding and stuff everywhere and there are so many stray/wild dogs!! i hate them. although they stay away from you really which is good! theres like kids begging everywhere and stuff and we're stopping in some kind of shack, but again it's nice inside, thank god! wandered out of the city today as we didnt fancy venturing in yet - found a really nice lake and parks which was nice! soooo hot so had a bit of a relax! going to head into the main city tomorrow before leaving tomorrow night again by sleeper to sofia! cant believe we're nearly on our last country! had an amusing experience today... went to a restaurant type place for lunch and when we were paying it came to like 690 romania money and heather left 700 notes and then a 50 coin (by mistake) which is like 5p or something stupid.. then they came back with our change, all of 60 leu and then on the way out the guy said to me was there something wrong with the table? i said no why and he said next time there will be!!!!! how rude! we figured it most be because they thought we'd left them a really rubbish tp, but how rude! then we went out and this guy nearly ran into me on his moped (on the pavement!!) and started shouted!!! argh! then we went to cross the rude and this car full of lad started shouting at us!!! lol. been an eventful day... friday the 13th!!! although apparantly it's lucky in romania!! </p> <p>anyway, better go as theres an australian waiting! ha!) </p> <p>i think i last wrote in slazburg?! ha meant to tell you - on the sound of music tour some random middle aged italians came up to us and asked to take our picture as we are 'bella'!!! how amusing! it cracked me and heather up anyway! spent our last night in salzburg with the americans (soooo nice!) oh and we went out to some austrian restaurant for tea. heather had a very bad experience with the food - very funny! i couldnt stop laughing! it was bad food! i on the other hand made a good choice!</p> <p>travelled to vienna the next morning - the americans were on the same train as us. arrived no worries and headed to our hostel. had to get on the underground (which we navigated extremely well, our rucksacks just tended to smack people in the head... ooops! lol) the hostel was the stupidly expensive twin en-suite one... the annoying thing is it wasnt even that nice and had no breakfast! was nice to be able to do all my washing and sprawl it round the room though - i had a serious shortage of clean underwear (and clothes for that matter!)we headed off into vienna... sooooo hot. too hot infact! not the biggest fan of the city, especially compared to salzburg. met up with liam and talia as they were there for the night which was really nice. went to a nice bar in the shade and sat chatting for ages - they're so nice and easy to get on with! you can stop with them in australia when you go vee! they're ace!! then we did a bit of sightseeing and then headed out for tea together which was lovely! they wanted to go out, but we were all hot and sweaty so we agreed to go get changed and meet back up! they were stopping at the opposite end of the city to us in a nice hotel as all the hostels were booked up (even our overpriced one!)and they wanted to meet at theirs as they had a tv and stuff. we agreed... it took us at least an hour to navigate our way to theirs on the underground!!! we had to change on to at least 4different lines! lol. then these huge black guys came and sat with us and started asking for our phone numbers!! so funny... heather told them we didnt own mobiles and im sat with mine in my hand!!! luckily i managed to slip it into my bag! this was pretty scary as it was 11pm at night!!!! i think they just wanted some girls to go out with... one was called colin which made me laugh - how unblack is that?!?!!? hahaha! anyway, never went out in the end, just hung at liam and talias which was nice and then got a taxi home!! wasnt going through that palava again!</p> <p>the next day it thunderstormed... lovely! as we are now experts of the vienna underground we just used that all day to get around! tried the sachre torte cake thing which is austrian and good... much better than the horrible sauusage experience hev had in salzburg! i forget the rest of that day!!! lol. spent the eve in the common area chatting to some irish people - i couldnt understand them they had a really thick accent!!</p> <p>travelled to bratislava this morning... only took an hour which was lucky as we missed our train!! but they're so regular it turned out it didnt matter! our hostels here's really nice, but we leave at 7am tomorrow so we're going to miss breakfast... gutted! not had a decent one since salzburg! went for a traditional slovakian lunch... really funny. everyone's been telling us that the locals arent friendly, but the ones we've met have been! we'd been reading about this traditional dish and we wanted to try it. so we went into a slovakian looking restaurant and asked for what was in our leaflet (Even though it wasnt on the menu!) and they went out and bought all the ingredients for us!!! how funny! lol. we didnt really understand what was going on! thank god we liked it as we wouldve had to eat it after all the effort they went too! then we had some wierd slovakian dessert which i really didnt like, but felt i better eat it!! for both of us for a drink, main course and pudding it cost 350slovakian money! which is like 7quid... how cheap is that?! heather had a 50p beer!!! lol. my tango was more expensive... 65p!!!</p> <p>anyway, we walked up to bratislava castle, not that impressive but you get a brill view over the city and the danube so it was worth the trek up there! horrible weather... lou says its red hot in italy!! but it's easier to carry our bags when it's colder so its all good!</p> <p>dont worry about steve.. heather's parents are getting us! thank you anyway! hahaha!</p> <p>fogotten where i got up to with things...</p> <p>never did prague properly i dont think? we arrived (after leaving an amazingly beautiful and sunny krakow) to a cloudy prague at 7am in the morning after a night on the most awful sleeper train ever... v amusing though! we made our way to the hostel which was really nice - in a room with melissa, a 23year old aussie who has straightners and shares her clothes! yay! danny and jaime a 23 yr old aussie couple and dave a 35 old aussie fireman who's v cool! lol. so we were outnumbered! lol. they were all lovely lovely people! the receptionist guy was cool, he found it amusing to pretend he didnt have a clue who we were when we tried to get our rucksacks, when he ob did - heather got v confused! lol. met up with lou and sarah and spent a few hours walking round prague with them. they left and the heavens opened - gutted! so we headed back to the hostel and showered and then the sun came out in its full glory! the weather is so unpredictable everywhere we go! went for an ice cream and a stroll around in the sun - really nice actually. the more time i spent in prague the more it grew on me! we went back and got ready and dan took us out for a meal.. which is when we had our traditional goulash and dumplings mmmm! then we went out and celebrated july 4th with him and the rest of the americans (even though it was a bad day for us!).</p> <p>we spent the next day just mooching around, i love just taking in each city and making the most of being there rather than spending time indoors doing thingsyou could be doing anywhere if you get me? we had tea out at a pizzaria the pizzas were huge! then we went back and went for a walk and to the supermarket with dave. then we went on the most hilarious ghost walk in the world - the woman was absolute comedy!!!!</p> <p>times nearly going and barns just come online and i cant do 2things at once! haha!</p> <p>anyway left early the next morn to get to salzburg. sat next to this american lad who was so lovely so that made the 6hour journey go much quicker! arrived at our hostel - not very homely and has the crappest showers but wer used to roughing it now! lol. met up with lou and sarah again and went out for lunch with them... thats when i had my schtizel and apple strudel etc! spent the night at the hostel watching the sound of music! lol.</p> <p>up early this morning.. had a decent breakfast whihch i havent done in ages as not all the hostels have it and you knw how i like my bfast! lol. went on the sound of music tour.. salzburg is really beautiful but im not the biggest fan of the film so i ddnt recognise everything but good all the same! 2 american 20somethings from our hostel did it too so hung with them and then when we got back we spent some time with one of them - shes v nice! and then we popped on here think wer going up a mountain in a cable car this noon! </p> <p>time nearly gone... think that's about it! still having an amzing time but my budgets gone to pot since heather arrived!!! managed to meet up with lou and sarah briefly this morn which was nice! the sleeper train last night was foul! all an experience though! poor heather.. not a nice first train! ah well! </p> <p>went to the salt mines in krakow yesterday - pretty impressive! and then just made the most of the nice weather and strolled around taking in the sights! went out for tea again - poland is so cheap! its really nice aswel - youd love it mum! its beautiful! def love to go back! omg guess what?!?!!? strolling around the square after tea last night and bumped into joesph kelly, alice, jess and thomas finch!!!!! my word can you believe it?! speash as hev and joesph are cousins its even randomer! v amusing we got pics to prove to lou it had actually happened! i looked a state too but lous theory of 'wer not going to see anyone' didnt pull through!! lol.</p> <p>not that keen on prague so far, think it may be because its raining... makes it look a bit drab. theres some amazing buildings and pretty backstreets, but not what i expected. got another day here so my opinion may well change! missing lou like mad already (and you sarah of course!), it's been sooooo hot here today, too hot some might say, but it just started thundering as those 2left! god didnt want them to leave either! just spent today chilling and strolling round old town - krakow is amazing! i love this city (but your hands up for prague! hahaha! get it!) we did a bit of sunbathing on some grass by a river (recent late nights are catching up on me!) which was really nice! had tea out for lous birthday which was lovely... went to the old square and sat outside - me and heather had some traditional polish dishes which was cool and delish! picked heather up from the airport this morning which all went smoothly - feels like shes been here for days already and she is very well prepared and listened to all our advice which is brill! had to get up at 7 to pick her up <img src="/img/smilies/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" class="middle" border="0"> i didnt get to bed til 230ish this morn as a brother and sister wed got friends with left this morn and talia, sarah and lou went to bed and i took a pen down to get liams email and ended up chatting to him til the early hours without realising! that boy can talk for australia, but im pretty good competition! lol.</p> <p>yesterday we went to austwizh (as you know mum) which was pretty hard hitting... so sad. yea. horrible. anyway, we went with andrew too so there was 4 of us which was cool (he's next to me now lou!!!), we were meant to go at 9am but as soon as we got home at stupid o clock the night before we didnt get an awful lot of sleep and after about 3hours of sleep i had the urge to get up and have a shower and wash my hair and get dressed! lol. so i spent the morn just hanging out with the americans and talia and liam. then went to austwizh in the noon. had tea out (again with andrew - the australian in our room) just to a dirt cheap american diner type thing as we were starving and it was like 10pm!</p> <p>erm... we arrived in krakow on friday (after our detour via warsaw! which im soooo glad we did! we arrived at like 11pm and at night it was amazing and the hostel was gorge!) we got here, dumped our stuff, checked our emails etc... this hostel is v v v nice! best one yet! glad im here for 3nights, met the best group of people, but its dead tonight.. only me, heather and andrew in our 8 bed dorm. chatted to an american girl when we got here who said she was part of a group who were studying in prague but had just come here for the weekend and she invited us out as they were all going, but we knackered after all the travelling so we said no! spent the day exploring krakow... i really do love it here! lous decided shes getting married here!!! hahaha (minus the tourists though sarah right?!) got back to the hostel and made ourselves some pasta with cheese, a tomato sauce and bread for tea which was good. got chatting to some more of the american group (they're all ace!) and decided we all wanted to go out with them after all! got showered and changed and went to the common room (soooo nice, like a living room with a huge flatsveen tv - same as ours at home but loads bigger!) and we met talia and liam for the first time (australian bro and sis, hes 21, shes 24 who have relatives in poland, so have visited them and are now doing the rest of europe together) and dan and bobby (2 of the american group) and andrew. had a really good laugh! all the rest of the american group said they were ready to go, but dan needed to get something so he went and we all waited and the rest of the group left without either party realising so it just ended up being the 8 of us, but it was a really good sized group and nice mix too! went to some polish bar first and then on to a club - we all had a really really good night! felt so safe too! bobby is like huge, but like the friendliest guy ever! hes like the bfg! love him! so he looked after us girls! he's a bouncer back home so that was good. however, we all got split up at the end and andrew walked us girls home, bobby and dan got a taxi and so did the other 2 but a diff one... found this out the next day - we couldnt understand how they got back before us?! anyway, bobby was feeling sick so he decided to stay outside so he wouldnt make a mess inside (bless him!) but he ended up getting mugged!!!! hes like the hugest guy big rugby build but he was passed out on the pavement and (we watched the security tape - the staff here are ace!) these 4guys circled him for ages, then one grabbed his neck while the others got all his cards, passport, money and even watch and legged it, but thew funny thing is bobby slept through all this! we couldnt stop laughing!! he had no sleep that night as had to go to the police station... luckily some random found his cards and passport so he got those back, but hed already cancelled his cards by that time which sucked! out of all the people he was the least likely to get mugged, it was mental! they left yesterday, but as they're in prague, they've given us their address and directions as they have an apartment and invited us to stay, but we've already booked our hostel so not sure what to do - 2free nights though?! heather hasnt met them though, but theyre so easy to get on with! def meet up with them either way!</p> <p>we worked out today that we're going to be in prague for 5hours at the same time and lou and sarah and then for the same in salzburg which im sooo happy about! be lovely to catch up with them!!! also when we're in vienna, liam and talia are there so prob catch up with them which'll be v cool! you meet so many ace people! im loving every second - except the one where we had to say bye to lou and sarah! lol. missing you 2 already!!</p> <p>anyway, may get myself to bed as we're on a sleeper to prague tomorrow and doubt we'll get a good nights sleep and had too many late nights so think a lie in is in order tomorrow!</p> <p>erm... forgotten what you asked! lou says thanku jas! and yes she text tom back - her phones is being daft! omg spice girls!!!! get lou a ticket too! she can be the 5th! o checkpoint charlie is the point on the berlin wall where people had to go to cross between east and west germany. you had to have certain documents etc and some families were split up, but weren't allowed to cross the wall so the museum was about the methods they tried to cross it and just what happened there - so much writing! think that's it! just been told theres some yorkshire people in the lounge so going to go and meet them! also the girls in our room when we arrived were from sheffield and had a friend in common with sarah! really like it! v funny.. there was a estonian man in our room and he spoke some kind of english so we had a little chat with him... anyway we decided to treat ourselves to tea out as there was a cheap pizza place on the corner from our hostel. we set off, then lou realised she#d left her phone and thought the suspicious estonian man might steal it so we went back to get it! as a result of this the estonian man invited himself to tea with us!!!! so instead of having a nice meal we had to make conversation with a strange man!! hahaha! v amusing! we thought we were going to have to pay for him, but luckiy he had his own money and the same phone as me so i dont think he wouldve stolen lous!!! lol.</p> <p>today... just been strolling round berlin, went to some remains of the wall and checkpoint charlie (not that it clearly explained what the wall was for so wer still slightly confused!!), erm up to the top of the reichstag government builidng which had a view over the city and through some parks and stuff. also got a train to nearby Potsdam which was meant to have amazing gardens and palaces... instead it just rained and we got v wet and ddnt see an awful lot! </p> <p>went to the airport to pick sarah up - v wierd feels like we live here with us showing her around!! lol. went to the italian again - i had veg lasagne which was delish! just checking some hostel stuff so thought id quickly write this!</p> <p>have had a water shortage today so im gagging and my lips are v dry! lol. we had no money for ages, then we found some change and bought a bottle but it was sparking so we had to throw it away - gutted! anyway in a female dorm for a change tonight... didnt like having that estonian man staring at me all night it was slightly disturbing! v funny! then we washed our non-delicates in the washing machine - what a luxury!! hahaha! soooo very nice to know all our clothes are fresh and clean! ive realised i couldve got away with taken much less even though i havent got an awful lot anyway (as you know!). tumble dried it all too which makes a change from turning our room into a chinese laundry!! </p> <p>theres a kitchen here so we were in there doing our washing and got chatting to a really nice australian called polly - shes been travelling for 5months solo! wow! we then had a shower and washed hair etc... my legs are now hair (and suprisingly cut) free!! lol. went out to the supermarket and cooked our first proper (ish) meal.. chicken with cheese and a tomato sauce with salad and then grapes for pud - it was good! sat with another australian for tea - shed worked in the lakes for 3months earlier this year! went back to our room and we are now sharing with a middle aged LA business man who#s v sweet and reads his bible and writes a journal too! just over for a business trip and he lit a match after going to the loo... what a gentleman! ha! got organised and went to bed to look up train times as im planning on taking lots of sleepers so think i may book them now to prevent anymore mishaps! we were i bed when all these chinese people started trapzing through really nosily! the bible guy was asleep and then woke him up! then they threw out the american lad in the other section of the room into our room so they could have the other part to themselves, but there were 5 of them and only 4beds?! ah well we lef tthem to it! </p> <p>got up this morn and had breakfast... im growing quite accustomed to museli and natural yogurt its good! spesh if there's lots of fruit in it! had a brief chat with polly, shes heading to amsterdam today! then made our way here! going to the station next to book our sleepers! god knows how much thats going to cose.. still not sure how much is in my nationwide! haha! its daft you cant find out but it seems all cards are the same for some daft unknown to me reason!</p> <p>glad you liked that one jas - i made myself laugh with it! V happy that u finally get to read my essays and i no longer feel im wasting my time writing them which is ob ace!!</p> <p>hahahaha! i know it still cracks us up, i was originally just worried about my camera but it would seem he had his hands full!!!! lol. how awful!</p> <p>anyway, not much to tell.. in cologne at the moment - arrived by sleeper this morning. had a better night sleep and no bites this time which is good! also lou was v happy she ddnt have a fat fat russian man above her - all woman this time! although there was 6 of us so a little cramped but all good! arrived at 7ish this morning and it wasnt the last stop so had to be up and off v quickly! decided to be organised and went to book our sleeper train from berlin to krakow (as we were told you could only book them in the country u were leaving from, ie germany), however it turns out that the train we wanted is fully booked! hahaha! and for the next night aswel! but being the experience travellers we are we no longer get fazed by these little mishaps and as a result have planned an alternate route and have booked a hostel to suit! so now we are going via warsaw in poland, stopping there for the night at leaving at 9am to krakow, so we wont actually see any of warsaw but id rather that than sleep in the station!</p> <p>we left the station and treked across cologne to our hostel, we are so good at map reading now, seriously! we walk everywhere following various city maps we pick up! we are v good! its nice... its a hotel with dorms too, so the breakfast room and foyer etc is posh and the room is nice! also its an 8 bed mixed but its sort of split into 2 rooms of 4 so its nice! only here tonight, but wer staying in the same chain in berlin! wer both shattered, so going to trek back to the station and book our new route, now wev found a hostel, and have a little wander round, not much here, but theres a huge cathedral and stuff so wel have a little look! then wer going to come back and have showers etc cs i couldnt find one on the train! my legs and hair are foul, also i smell today!!! we think theres a washing machine here - wer hoping so as our towels smell foul!!! making me feel sick! so we think wel do all our washing and have a clean fresh start which will be nice! not that iv got through all my clothes yet! i live in the same shorts!!! i have changed but i kepp reverting back to these!</p> <p>anyway, think wer going to do our thing now...</p> <p>hahaha! v embarassing about harley - wheres he staying?! also, whos that arctic monkeys concert with? dont worry about the grades, look what i got!!!! hahaha! </p> <p>speak soon, lots of love xxxxx</p> <p>ps trying to limit myself to one text a day so my credit doesnt run out... thats fine with that form mum, thanku v much! il pay you back when i get home! i just didnt want them to forget id paid and ask for it again or something! xxxxxxxxxxx </p> <p> <small> <a href="http://pinklady959.blog.co.uk/2007/06/26/cologne~2521474/#comments">Comments</a> </small> </p>tag:pinklady959.blog.co.uk,2007-06-24:/2007/06/24/copenhagen~2509260/pinklady9592007-06-24T11:11:23+02:002007-06-24T11:11:23+02:00 <p>I keep forgetting what i have and havent written about as we cant get on the net everyday, but this place has free internet so taking advantage before we start our day! </p> <p>we started our day to fresh pancakes for breakfast at the hostel... mmm!! we spent our first day in amsterdam going to anne franks house which was good - surreal to think she actually lived there. i found it really interesting. we then had to move hostels to our second christian shelter... the one in the red light district but disapointingly we couldnt see why it was the red light district?! similar layout, nice again, just in a 4bed this time, so different again. in a room with 2 22yr old californians called jaime and dana - really nice girls! we went on a boat trip in the noon, which was nice, but it wasnt the best weather so didnt look as pretty as expected, which was a shame. walked round the city just looking at the sights - stinks of weed everywhere and we swear it had an affect on us!!!!!!! we were knakered! went back to the hostel and chatted to the girls, then realised we needed to book our train to cologne for the next night as it was a fast one we were getting. so we wandered to the station to do that - the queue was huuuuuge! sat talking to 2 lads from new york - theyd been waiting nearly 3hours! luckily some nice dutch man gave us his ticket so we only waited 1hours which wasnt so bad. got some tea and ate it in the hostel at the cafe... a v nice salad! washed my hair and went t our room to get sorted as check out was 10am.... really nice to have a 4room with 2girls we really got on with... chatted to them for ges and had a good laugh about our fishing rod man and their similar experiences! it turns out we are right nextr door to the red light district but me and lou had been walking obviously in the opposite directiom!!! hahaha! they said they were doing a free walking tour in the morn and asked us to join them, so because we felt we hadnt really seen amsterdam and we liked them we decided to join them.</p> <p>got up the next morning and went down to breakfast together... fried egg, cheese and ha on toast (these hostels have the best breakfasts, id def go back!) v good! had some time before the tour so played an american card game called phase 10 - its really good! Tom... huge favour, if you see it on your travels please would you buy it for me?! ill pay you back!! may thanks! went to do the free walking tour and literally as soon as we went out of the door, the heavens opened like really bad! we walked through the red light district and even at that time in the morn the woman were sat posing in their windows - i swear half were men!!! v amusing! after about half an hr we gave up on our walking tour as it was soooo nasty! decided to spend the day with Jaime and Dana so had a really good day... did van gogh museum, went to a dutch pancake house and did the heinekan brewary tour! i wish we couldve stayed in amsterdam a day loger as we all wanted to go to some windmills, but we never made it cs of the weather, but the girls have promised us pictures! lol. rushed back to the hostel, got our bags and to the station... train to cologne! so we were briefly in germany yesterday! we must look v friendly as on the train, there was this v cute little black kid playing stick tongue games out with me, and then this guy sat across the aisle from me decided to join in - he was just like a yossef!! dutch too! v amusing! anyway he struck up a convo and literally 2mins in gave me all is contact details and told us to look him up next time we were in holland! he was v cool - european dresser, best style and in fashion! lol. had a minor panic in cologne as no-onr spoke english and we needed to collect our sleeper train tickets - the woman was v ignorant - grrrr! we tried speaking german, but it ddnt work and she was mean! anyway, i asked a man if he spoke english and then if he spoke german (which was prob pretty ob soon as wer in germany!) and he v kindly helped us and we got our tickets from a machine using our reservation number which was good! got on a sleeper train... 2sets of 3 bed bunks in the tinest space ever!!!! v wierd! there was us 2and a danish lad in - he was v nice and helpful with our bags and stuff and made me laugh as we were on the bottom bunks and he was on the top on the opposite side to me and kept waving and making jokes! a few stops later we got an american woman and a russian man who spoke v limited english! i had the worst night sleep ever, but it was enjoyable all the same! i decided to have a wander at about 4ish and the nice danish man joined me which was nice! this morn me,lou and mr danish turned my bed into a sofa and made the room a bit more social which was nice! arrived here at about 10this morn - slept in our clothes, but got changed this morn on the train - those deodrant wipes came in handy!!</p> <p>we had no directions to the hostel, only what bus to get, but we spent too much money yest so decided to walk, found a map and i navigated v well (i think lou will agree! lol) and we got to the hostel o probs, about 20min walk but its sunny here! yay! hostel seems ok, only here 1night so its cool... put our bags in lockers and then came to the comp... im swaying still, its so wierd! sos lou tho so its not just me! also we got bitten last night - ddnt expect it from a train stupidly so never sprayed, not that i have much anyway to be fair! wer going to tivoli today and spending the whole day there - theres a big firework display at like 1230 tonight to wev already asked about buses ad taxis back - itl be the first time wev been out in the dark! after i wrote on here yesterday, me and louise went for a walk to see a lake that was meant to be really nice and have lots of swans on it. to get to it you had to walk down this path that was next to a river and in some trees. it was still light and wasnt quiet round the area and it looked perfectly safe. so we wondered down and decided to put my camera on a bench and time a picture of ourselves. there was a man on a moped a bit further up the path - i thought he was fishing! we took the pic and carried on up the path. as we got nearer the man was smirking at us and me and louise naive as we are gave a nice smile back... until we realised it wasnt a fishing rod he was holding!!!!!!!! oh. my. god. louise just went jade run, so we legged it back down this path, i was wetting myself!! he was quite old aswell... eugh!!! anyway we decided to go to the lake a different way, but when we got to the end of the new road he was there on his moped!!! we were soooo scared! luckily there were 2men there so we just stood right behind them until he drove off then we ran all the way back to the hostel!!! hahaha! after that we decided to spend the night in - so much for a nice evening in bruges! quite glad we've left today!</p> <p>anyway, in amsterdam now at the hostel - it's a christian one so there's a bible session later! everyones really nice and there are english people here - the first we've seen yet!!! we went into bruges this morning for a stroll then had to go back to brussels by train, then from brussels to amsterdam so spent a good 4hours on trains but it went quickly and the trains are nice, plus it meant we had a much needed rest! in bruges we had a 4 dorm to ourselves the first night which was nice, then 2 south korean girls joined us on the second night... now we're in a 14bed dorm! bit of a difference! on the train there were 4american 40somethings all women, travelling europe and one of them gave us her address so we can go and stop with her if we ever go to america.. how nice! also there was a vvv nice young american couple in our bruges hostel who we always seemed to bump into and had several chats with - the guy looked like freddie prince jr.! </p> <p>arrived in amsterdam and it was pouring down!!! so we put our waterproof bit on our rucksack and put our hoodies and coats on - bet we looked a picture! i couldnt stop laughing on the train as we got ourselves kitted out! we were dripping wet by the time we arrived at this hostel! what a state! its v nice - it has a cafe so wev just had chesse omlette for tea... mmm! had a couscous salad for lunch!</p> <p>wer going to have an early night as shattered and dont want to get wet.. only here for one night then going to another hostel in amsterdam... in the red light district so we def wont be going out that night!! i hope no1 else reads this and sees ive been writing to myself! hahaha!</p> <p>anyway, today wev spent the day in bruges (hence the title) and done lots of exciting things... we went round a chocolqte museum and did a chocolate walk and got lots of free samples.. mmmm!! also sampled some sort of chocolate shot thing - it went straight to our heads! lol. went on a cute boat ride which was really nice! also sampled some reql belgian waffles - v traditional <img src="/img/smilies/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" class="middle" border="0"> and very delish! had it with berry yogurt ice cream!! </p> <p>we had a wierd experience - these girls came up to us and asked us to sign a petition to help poor children in africa and there was a column for donation so we both left it blank, but they got really angry and started saying things in flemish french so we think they were being rude!! then we thought they were following us and we were very nearly ready to run!!! hahaha! they ddnt though so it was all good! think we are going into town later cs it looks really nice on night postcards so we want to see for ourselves!</p> <p>we both like bruges more than brussels - its cuter! still got crazy road systems and daft drivers but less leary males - everywhere you went in brussels there wasome lad or man saying something! however most were helpful so cant complain!</p> <p>anyway, thanks for the text last night jas - im limiting myself to one text a day though! our 2nd city - how impressive!! our navigating skills are def on the up, wer v good! just at the hostel here, its quite nice! going to a chocolate factory tomorrow as soon as wer in the home of real chocolates which should be good! bought ourselves some food from the supermarket and warmed it up in the kitchen... we keep forgetting to eat, but we have big breakfasts to keep our energy up!! this hostels nice as its still social but smaller so not as intimidating! and she was quite a big woman!! just been round brussels today... sooooo hot!!! just popped back to our hostel to pick up our stuff and then wer off to bruges! brussels is nice - its so huge!! wev treked miles today!
